The Outlaw Flag League is a 5 vs 5 Flag American Football League which was established in 2016. The league is split into a regular season / championship playoffs which runs from March-October.
OFL is the biggest independent Flag Football league in the UK and has been running since 2016. Over the past 10 years we’ve proudly supported the growth of the sport in the UK. Both London Smoke and Cardiff Hurricanes were each crowned OFL Champions, before going on to become NFFL National Champions a few years later. Our aim is to keep providing fun, competitive and community focussed flag for everyone – allowing teams to simply play more flag football.
By letting teams play as much football as possible, we hope to provide the opportunity for teams, players and coaches the chance to grow and develop so there can be more national champions that have started their flag journey with Outlaw Flag League.
How OFL operates, is by each team paying an affordable one-off entry fee. We then handle all the organising of a venue, taking away the financial and logistical problems from you, so you can focus on just playing flag! All our game days are hosted at our centrally located venue, in Northamptonshire.
Our seasons run from March to October. So, your season won’t end in July, even if you don’t have a successful season! All teams will play all season long, and will also play at OFL finals, regardless of record. All teams will play 20+ games each season (this number is dependent on the final number of teams in the league) but in 2025, teams played a total of 24 games, that works out at just over £10 per team per game!
All game days are held once per month, on Saturdays. Teams will usually play 3 games per game day (occasionally 2 games). Teams are also required to referee games, this is usually 1 game per game day (max 2 games per game day)
As we grow and we receive interest from teams located far away from our venue, we always try, where possible, to schedule these teams to play later in the day to help with travel and not make teams wake up at 5am to play in the first game at 9am! As we run the league quite small scale and DIY – we can, where possible, cater for requests for rescheduling of games in exceptional circumstances.
